Description
The oil in tea tree oil is extracted from the leaves of Melaleuca alternifolia, a small tree native to Queensland and New South Wales. The leaves of the Melaleuca were used by Aboriginal Australians for centuries; they would crush the leaves and inhale to soothe coughs and colds or would apply directly to the skin for a cooling effect.
