Workers can be spotted picking the beautiful bloom of the Rosa damascena in Bulgarian fields. The labour-intensive procedure delivers a relatively low yield; one 5mL bottle of Rose essential oil requires more than 10,000 freshly plucked rose flowers. Because rose petals are so delicate, distillation must take place on the same day the flower is picked. This effort results in a lovely and romantic essential oil with a sweet flowery scent.
